Sexual Violence : Law Enforcement Information

  • As the survivor of sexual violence, you have the right to report the crime to law enforcement and are encouraged to consider the options of filing criminal or civil charges as a result of the incident. Law enforcement officers have the responsibility to serve and protect the citizens in the community, which includes investigating reported crimes.

  • Choosing to file a complaint with Student Conduct does not prevent a survivor from using criminal or civil remedies. You should contact a police officer or attorney to explore those possibilities. Staff in the Sexual Violence Education and Support (SVES) can assist you with this process if you choose.
